Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager
Position Overview
The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager will oversee all environmental, health, and safety programs for a manufacturing operation in the Bay Area. This individual will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, while driving continuous improvement initiatives related to workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and operational risk management.
Reporting directly to the Plant Leader, this position will supervise two EHS team members and collaborate closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams to foster a strong safety culture across the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and enhance environmental, health, and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain and improve site EHS management systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Lead health and safety initiatives, emergency preparedness efforts, and crisis response planning.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, state-specific safety regulations, and applicable environmental requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory inspections, audits, and agency interactions.
- Conduct incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to reduce workplace hazards.
- Manage employee and contractor safety training programs and compliance records.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support safe equipment design, maintenance, and manufacturing processes.
- Facilitate safety committee meetings and promote employee engagement in EHS initiatives.
- Support spill prevention, environmental monitoring, and other compliance-related programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and state safety compliance requirements.
- Experience conducting audits, investigations, risk assessments, and corrective action programs.
- Knowledge of environmental compliance programs and EHS management systems preferred.
- Proven ability to influence teams and build a proactive safety culture.
