Job summary

Prince William County Government is seeking an Environmental, Health, & Safety Manager to lead a comprehensive EHS program, conduct field work, and provide training across county departments. The role emphasizes risk management, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement to promote a safer, healthier workplace.

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in EHS or related field and 7+ years of EHS program management, with supervision experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 7 years of EHS program management experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or closely related field.
• 8+ years professional experience in environmental and/or safety compliance.
• 2 years supervising employees or cross-functional teams.
• Professional certifications such as CHP, PMP, OHST, CHMM, REM, REP, ARM, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Actively manage daily operations of a comprehensive EHS program and ensure department compliance with policies and regulations.
• Supervise staff: prioritize, assign, schedule, evaluate, train, and manage performance; oversee hiring/termination decisions.
• Perform complex technical work related to safety and environmental initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and policy compliance support to County departments.
• Facilitate and manage compliance audits and inspections with recommended control measures.
• Prepare professional reports and regulatory filings; deliver outreach and education programs.
