Job summary

School District 622 - North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Manager to lead across all district facilities.

The role focuses on developing comprehensive safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, MDE, and local health departments, while serving as the district's subject matter expert on safety and environmental matters. The ideal candidate balances technical expertise, strategic planning, and hands-on training, with duties including audits,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EH&S or related field.
• At least 5 years of EH&S experience.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between district buildings.
• Experience with AHERA, OSHA, EPA in educational settings.
• Ability to travel between multiple district campuses.

Responsibilities

• Lead regular safety audits across district facilities with EHS consultants.
• Serve as primary liaison for OSHA, EPA, Fire Marshal and Health Department.
• Oversee hazardous materials management, chemical hygiene plans, and AHERA.
• Manage IAQ investigations, radon testing, lead-in-water testing, and remediation plans.
• Act as IAQ Coordinator and AHERA Designated Person.
• Maintain logs of SDS, OSHA 300, injury reports, and compliance certificates.
• Manage mandatory safety training programs for district staff (Right-to-Know/GHS, Bloodborne Pathogens, Lockout/Tagout, PPE).
• Onboard safety orientations for facilities, custodial, transportation, and nutrition staff.
• Lead investigations into accidents and near-misses; implement corrective actions.
• Chairs the District OSHA Safety Committee and coordinates with stakeholders.
• Review blueprints for safety, ADA compliance, and environmental standards in capital projects.
• Plan and manage health & safety construction projects and budgets.
• Collaborate with Purchasing on health and safety procurement.
• Communicate safety activities to internal and external audiences.
