The Environmental Health and Safety Manager at Caterpillar is responsible for site-level EHS leadership for a new advanced manufacturing campus in Sanford, North Carolina, guiding safety from construction through startup. This role requires coordinating with contractors and site teams to embed safety into every phase and ensure readiness before production begins.

• Risk management experience across operational, construction, and environmental risks.
• Decision making and critical thinking to analyze data and guide safety decisions.
• Project management to plan, organize, monitor and deliver EHS-related projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead EHS execution from construction planning through startup at a new advanced manufacturing site.
• Set clear construction-phase safety expectations for contractors and site leaders; manage orientation, access, planning, hazard controls, inspections and corrective actions.
• Develop and implement practical EHS programs, training, audits, reporting routines and risk-reduction processes aligned with Caterpillar standards and local requirements.
• Collaborate with construction, facilities, operations, engineering, maintenance, security, HR, suppliers and system integrators to identify risks early and resolve issues.
• Support safe implementation of advanced manufacturing systems, robotics, automation and energy systems.
• Establish leader routines for hazard identification, risk assessment, incident response and corrective actions.
• Use EHS data and audits to guide decisions and focus resources on high-risk areas.
• Provide leadership for environmental compliance, waste management, chemical management, air, water, stormwater, permitting and sustainability programs.
• Coach leaders and employees to reinforce safe decisions during construction and startup.
