Job summary

James Hardie in Wilmington, NC is offering a 12-week full-time EHS internship for summer 2027. You will review and update facility drawings, assist with environmental compliance, and support training materials on current policies.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a related bachelor's program with a 3.0 GPA, authorized to work in the U.S., and comfortable working on the production floor. AutoCAD and Microsoft Office skills are a plus, and mentorship is provided.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; anticipated graduation between Dec 2027 and May 2029.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Available to work full-time for 12 weeks during Summer 2027.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Preferred majors: OESH, Environmental Science, or Industrial Hygiene.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD skills may be helpful.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable on the production floor and engaging with plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Review and update facility line drawings, fire extinguisher maps, evacuation routes, severe weather maps, and emergency equipment locations.
• Assist with environmental compliance activities, including chemical inventories, waste inspections, spill-prevention readiness, stormwater reviews, and recordkeeping.
• Collaborate with EHS team members to ensure training materials reflect current policies, procedures, and best practices.
