Job summary

Southwire Company, LLC is offering internships and co-ops through its College Programs to bridge classroom learning with real-world manufacturing. Interns will work on project-based tasks for 10-12 weeks (intern) or 16-18 weeks (co-op) with mentorship and exposure to leadership expo.

Locations include summer rotation; candidates must be enrolled in a relevant degree program and capable of presenting project work.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a related degree.
• Reliable transportation to/from work.
• Awareness of environmental, health, safety, and sustainability issues.
• Proven working experience in a team environment.
• Experience with systems thinking and process management.
• Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills.
• Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Document ergonomic concerns using interviews, video capture, and AI software.
• Research and identify alternatives, best practices, and solutions to identified concerns.
• Partner with maintenance to develop energy control procedures for new and existing equipment using provided tools and software.
• Review safety data sheets and use provided software to identify IH concerns and assist in developing similar exposure groups to facilitate IH testing.
• Conduct regular inspections.
• Other items as directed.

Job Description

Job Summary/Objective:
The purpose of Southwire’s College Programs is to help early career professionals bring together formal learning and

productive work to improve their ability to transition from school to work. Southwire provides interns and co-ops with

“real world” applications of their academic studies, helpful feedback and coaching, and consideration for employment

after graduation. Each student will have a variety of responsibilities and assigned projects that relate to their field of

study and be responsible for developing a timeline, progress updates, and final delivery in a senior leadership expo.

Note: All new interns and co-ops must begin in the summer rotation.

Key Responsibilities

• Your intern assignment is generally 10-12 weeks, and co-op assignment is generally 16-18 weeks and will include an assigned project and opportunities to present your work.
• You will also collaborate on other exciting projects and work with talented peers and inspirational leaders, many of whom began as interns and co-ops themselves.
• You will be provided a robust developmental experience through an immersive onboarding and offboarding experience, assigned a mentor, networking opportunities, organized events, activities, and
• You will have the opportunity to impact the future of the organization, all the while being exposed to a world-class program community.

Long Description

Project Summary

This position will support the Environmental Health & Safety department. This individual must be a self-starter, be comfortable working both independently in the manufacturing workspace and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will be able to speak with all levels of team members to solicit their ideas and concerns.
