Job summary

Mariani Packing Group seeks an EHS Coordinator to develop and implement environmental, health, safety, and food safety programs in a food manufacturing setting. You will ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA, and BRCGS Food Safety standards through audits, training, documentation, sampling, and risk assessments.

You will collaborate with Operations, Quality, Sanitation, and Maintenance to mitigate risks to employee safety and product integrity, driving continuous improvement and audit

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Federal and California state laws and regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail with ability to read and interpret technical documents and explain in simple terms.
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent time management skills and accountability.
• Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Engineering, or related field preferred; or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing with direct oversight of EHS related fields, or equivalent educational experience.
• PCQI, QAC (or) QAL, T1, and Safety certified, or have the ability to become certified.
• Bilingual (Spanish): Essential.

Responsibilities

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the facility complies with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Environmental Audits: Conduct regular environmental audits to identify issues and improvements.
• Waste Management: Oversee disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in line with laws.
• Pollution Prevention: Support efforts to minimize pollution and environmental footprint.
• Environmental Reporting: Prepare reports to regulatory agencies as required.
• Permit Management: Obtain and maintain air, water, and waste permits.
• Regulatory Updates: Stay informed of changes and update programs.
• Vendor Selection: Involve in selecting EHS vendors/contractors.
• EHS Budget: Manage budgets for safety equipment, training and compliance.
• Cost Control: Identify cost-saving opportunities in waste, energy, and safety.
• Track and report EHS metrics like incident rates and training completion.
• Ensure timely submission of reports and permits to agencies.
