Job summary

Chemours International Operations Sàrl is looking for an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Consultant at the New Johnsonville Plant in Tennessee. The successful candidate will provide leadership and technical support for compliance in high-hazard operations.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience in an environmental field. Responsibilities include permitting support, regulatory compliance, and improving safety management systems.

Job description

Chemours is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Consultant to join our growing team at the New Johnsonville Plant in New Johnsonville, Tennessee. The role focuses on providing leadership, guidance, and technical support for permitting requirements and compliance across high-hazard chemical operations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, guidance, technical problem solving, training, and implementation support for permitting requirements and compliance at high-hazard chemical operations. Permitting needs include solid waste, wastewater, domestic water, stormwater, spill control, and air.
  • Interface with all site employees, corporate resources, regulatory agencies, unit operations, and be an active member of the site leadership team.
  • Improve systems, procedures, processes, individual capability, and ownership around environmental and process safety management.
  • Develop systems to manage environmental programs across the site.
  • Participate in and facilitate incident investigations as required.
  • Review regulatory briefs related to EHS and anticipate impact.
  • Use laboratory equipment, instruments, and perform calculations, preliminary analysis, field monitoring and sampling.
  • Ensure the accuracy, precision, and integrity of testing results by following approved testing methods including calibration and standardization.
  • Create, evaluate, and upgrade job-specific procedures as needed.
  • Function as site leader for the ISO14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS), including certification readiness and sustainment.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance, create and implement 1st-party environmental audits and act as a key participant in 2nd and 3rd-party audits.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical and/or safety discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in an environmental related field.
  • Regulatory-based environmental knowledge, including federal and state regulations, laws, and standards.
  • Ability to anticipate, plan, develop, implement, audit, and improve sustainable processes in the EHS field.
  • Ability to work independently or in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong multi-task/organization skills with excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office: spreadsheets, PowerPoint) and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental permitting and compliance with RCRA, NPDES, TitleV.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of highly hazardous chemicals or equivalent military experience.
  • Sound technical and regulatory based safety and process safety management knowledge, including OSHA regulations, laws, and standards.
