Job summary

ERM in New Jersey seeks a Consulting Associate, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Compliance based in Ewing. You will help clients meet regulatory requirements, reduce risk and advance sustainability goals while protecting people and the planet.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 0–2 years of EHS experience, strong communication, and the ability to travel locally up to 60%. Local candidates only; sponsorship not available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
• 0–2 years of EHS experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, plus analytical and organizational abilities.
• Ability to balance multiple tasks, work independently and as a team member, and travel locally up to 60% of the time.
• Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a variety of EHS regulatory compliance and risk management projects.
• Prepare plans, permits, and reports for hazardous waste, air quality, stormwater, and wastewater programs.
• Conduct EHS compliance assessments and implement corrective actions to meet federal, state, and local regulations.
• Support development of EHS compliance and management system programs.
• Provide on-site EHS compliance support to clients as needed.
• Conduct environmental fieldwork and audits, including sampling and ecological studies.
• Carry out inspections, incident investigations, safety observations, job safety analyses, and risk assessments based on OSHA requirements.
• Support multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule while ensuring quality deliverables.
• Collaborate with ERM Partners-in-Charge and Project Managers to deliver exceptional client service.
