Job summary

Pullman Regional Hospital is seeking a Health Information Management Specialist to maintain the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of patient health records within the EHR. The role involves document processing, scanning, indexing, and release of information under HIPAA and state/federal regulations.

The position requires a high school diploma, at least six months in a healthcare setting, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of six (6) months of experience in a healthcare or medical office setting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Office and virtual platforms (Zoom & Teams).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Process requests for medical records and patient information from internal and external sources in accordance with HIPAA, legal requirements, and organizational policies.
• Perform scanning, indexing, and quality review of patient records to ensure accuracy and completeness in the EHR.
• Maintain, retrieve, and archive electronic health records while ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
• Manage Release of Information (ROI) requests, including validating authorizations and ensuring compliant disclosure of PHI.
• Accurately enter and update patient information in the EHR in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively with staff, providers, patients, and external partners to support continuity of care and customer service excellence.
