Job summary

Lightera is seeking an EHS Technician in Carrollton, GA, on an early day shift, to support EHS programs at Carrollton Cable and Connectivity. The role centers on data entry, reporting, PPE administration, and records maintenance, interfacing daily with employees.

Under the Senior EHS Manager, you will use Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to prepare monthly safety reports, maintain waste tracking, and support compliance tasks across ISO standards. This is an hourly, non-exempt position.

EDUCATION And EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including filtering, sorting, and analyzing exported data, plus strong Word and PowerPoint proficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written/verbal communication.
  • Team player, able to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2-year technical degree, certification, or bachelor’s degree in environmental, health and safety, or a related field.
  • Experience with integrated management systems (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001).
  • EHS internship experience.
  • OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour General Industry certification.
  • NREP Associate Environmental Professional (AEP) or Federal OSHA Structure Standards certification.
  • ESG/sustainability internship experience.
Essential Responsibilities
Safety Systems & Reporting
  • Manage user access and support day‑to‑day use of the site’s compliance software (currently Mitti, formerly SafetyCulture).
  • Manipulate data exported from reporting systems in Excel, filtering, organizing, and formatting already‑classified data, to support reporting for both Carrollton Cable and Connectivity.
  • Enter data for recurring monthly corporate and regional safety reporting.
  • Build the first draft of the monthly EHS results deck for Cable and Connectivity using the established template, updating data, charts, and recurring category slides from source reports.
  • Maintain incident documentation and track action items to closure.
PPE Program
  • Coordinate safety shoe and prescription safety glasses vouchers, appointments, and vendor scheduling. This is the PPE Program’s main hands‑on coordination work. General PPE is vendor‑managed through an onsite vending machine and requires minimal ongoing administration.
  • Restock visitor PPE and supplies at the Security gate as needed.
  • Start the shift early enough to catch the outgoing night crew for same‑day administrative follow‑up, for example, PPE status, voucher issuance, or onsite prescription safety glasses appointments.
Environmental Compliance
  • Maintain and update the site’s hazardous waste manifest tracking workbook, logging manifest and weekly generation data and monitoring SQG threshold status.
  • Coordinate scheduled waste disposal and recycling pickups with contracted vendors.
  • Support SPCC and SWPPP compliance as a member of the Pollution Prevention Team: verify interior and exterior control implementation and support third‑party consultants during routine inspections and sampling visits.
  • Enter Scope 1, 2, and 3 data into the designated sustainability reporting system, following the current data collection process and any successor process as systems change.
  • Maintain the chemical inventory database and support accessibility to safety data sheets for site personnel.
Training & Orientation
  • Coordinate contractor and visitor orientation scheduling and logistics.
  • Administer training records and the training schedule.
Administrative & Scheduling
  • Update communication boards at both Carrollton Cable and Connectivity with current safety and campaign materials.
  • Process purchase requisitions and contracted service agreements in the site’s procurement system (currently SAP), from order through payment, coordinating with vendors, Purchasing, and Accounting; and track departmental invoices and work orders.
  • Track and update the EHS compliance calendar (currently the site’s EHS Master Compliance Calendar workbook).
  • Coordinate compliance and program scheduling for Connectivity, tracking due dates and scheduling activities under the Connectivity Safety and Health Management Plan and applicable compliance calendar items.
  • Coordinate EHS meeting scheduling, materials, and logistics.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Senior EHS Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and PowerPoint, at an intermediate level; advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation and analysis, are critical to this role.
  • Ability to learn and use data‑entry and reporting systems accurately and consistently; comfortable adapting to new platforms as tools change.
  • Willing to learn the site’s EHS‑specific tools and technology as part of the role.
  • Must be able to learn to use SAP to process purchase requisitions, orders, and payments for goods and services.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple recurring tasks and deadlines across environmental, safety, and reporting functions.
  • Strong attention to detail in recordkeeping and compliance documentation.
  • Maintains professional conduct and discretion; contributes to a collaborative, respectful team environment.

Work Environment / Physical Demands
  • Regular presence on the manufacturing floor is required, including extended periods of walking and standing during PPE distribution and communication board updates.
  • Required to wear PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, and other site‑required equipment) while on the production floor.
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment, including noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
