Job summary

Armtec Defense Technologies, based in Coachella, California, is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager to lead the site safety program and drive continuous improvement across operations.

The role oversees regulatory compliance, safety culture, process safety, and environmental stewardship, partnering with production, engineering, maintenance, and quality to reduce risk and elevate overall safety performance at the production facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years EH&S leadership in industrial manufacturing.
• Experience driving safety-culture change and measurable improvements.
• Familiarity with DoD explosives-safety requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve the site EH&S management system and annual safety strategy.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Safety and Environmental team.
• Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor and ensure critical controls are effective.
• Lead safety culture and change-management efforts; promote stop-work authority and accountability.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, DoD, OSHA/Cal/OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA and other requirements.
• Lead Process Safety Management and energetic-material safety systems (PHAs, MOC, pre-startup reviews).
• Incorporate EH&S requirements before new product implementations and changes.
• Own high-risk work-control systems (lockout/tagout, hot work, confined-space, etc.).
• Lead root-cause investigations and ensure corrective actions prevent recurrence.
• Own industrial hygiene and occupational-health systems (exposure monitoring, PPE, medical surveillance).
• Own environmental compliance management (hazardous waste, air, wastewater, spill prevention).
• Lead emergency preparedness and response systems with local authorities.
• Use risk-management to prioritize EH&S resources toward highest hazards.
