Job summary

Coastal-Kids-Dental-and-Braces in Charleston, SC is seeking an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to support the dentist during procedures and perform state-permitted expanded duties. You will help with restorative, endodontic, and surgical treatments.

You will also prepare instruments, maintain a sterile environment, take impressions and radiographs, greet patients, provide post-treatment care instructions, and assist with charting and scheduling while upholding quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Dental Assistant certification with EFDA/EDDA per state requirements.
• CPR certification.
• Bilingual preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist during restorative, endodontic, and surgical procedures.
• Prepare and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and materials.
• Maintain sterile environment by following infection control protocols.
• Take impressions and dental radiographs (X-rays).
• Greet and prepare patients; provide post-treatment instructions.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
• Maintain patient records; schedule and confirm appointments.
• Manage inventory and place orders for supplies.
