Job summary

First Student, Inc. is seeking a legal compliance professional to assist with discrimination complaints from local, state, and federal agencies. You will investigate, respond, and prepare defense materials, including position statements and affidavits.

The role involves reviewing charges, interviewing witnesses, and coordinating with outside counsel. You will maintain EEO databases, support hearings/mediations, and ensure adherence to employment laws and contracts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• 1–2 years of experience in employment laws and regulations
• Interpreting laws/regulations and applying them to specific fact situations clearly

Responsibilities

• Reviews charges of discrimination, assesses liability, and assists with case handling with outside counsel when appropriate
• Prepares company response, including position statements, affidavits, and evidentiary documents
• Reviews documents, interviews witnesses, and analyzes policies and contracts to prepare defense/response
• Reviews statutes, regulations, and contracts to evaluate causes of action and defense
• May assist with hearings/mediations as company representative to persuade investigators
• Assists with negotiating and preparing settlement agreements and releases at hearings/mediations
• Maintains EEO database and files; handles intake of discrimination and wage claims and coordinates with locations and HR intern
• Oversees administrative efforts for all discrimination complaints
