Job description

Job Summary –

The Registered EEG technologist must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care in the Neurophysiology Lab for stable patients and at the patient's bedside for critically ill patients. The EEG Technologist must perform standard and complex neurophysiological recordings on patient populations ranging from neonatal to adulthood and geriatrics.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Electro Neuro Diagnostic Program preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience.

Minimum Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience with Meditech, Athena.
  • Vocational or Technical training in Electrodiagnostic Technology required.
  • Certification by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologists preferred.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices, and policies, and apply them practically in varied situations.

Certification/Licensure:

  • EEG Board Eligible; Certification by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologists (R EEG T) preferred.

Job Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated Registered EEG Technologist to:

  • Test, document, and interpret according to lab protocols and ASET standards.
  • Perform routine EEGs, continuous video EEG monitoring at the bedside, and ambulatory EEGs.
  • Set up, troubleshoot, and perform multiple technical procedures.
  • Multi-task across different applications simultaneously.
  • Record all montages, perform activating procedures, and document patient movements and clinical events.
  • Record sensitivity and filter settings, include all calibrations, and ensure all pertinent patient information is documented.
  • Perform daily quality assurance for inpatient continuous EEG monitoring, ensuring electrode adherence, camera placement, and staff education.
  • Provide clinical impressions, communicate with physicians, and document findings.
  • Manage billing and charges for patients and physicians.
  • Provide initial and ongoing equipment training for new hires.
  • Conduct monthly and annual quality assurance measures.
  • Ensure timely entry of reports into Meditech per established timelines.
  • Collect and analyze data, report findings, and adapt to changing environments and schedules.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Provide patient care tailored to age, culture, gender, and medical conditions.
  • Stay current with industry trends through ongoing education.
