Job summary

The Connally Independent School District is seeking a Teacher in Residence who will support classroom instruction and co-teach while gaining hands-on experience under a certified educator. This exempt professional role involves working 60-80% time with mentorship and coordinating university schedules with district HR release.

Starting pay is $42,700 with a 187-day calendar, and SBEC Certification will be pursued within two years; prior teaching credentials are welcomed and development

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree or enrollment in approved educator preparation program preferred.
• Eligibility to pursue Texas teacher certification.
• SBEC Certification required within two years of acceptance of CISD Teacher Apprentice program.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
• Experience with instructional, tutoring, mentoring, or coaching settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities to guide learning toward curriculum goals.
• Assess student progress using formative, summative, and performance-based measures and provide progress reports.
• Support co-teach, in-class small group instruction, and pull-out sessions.
• Monitor student work and provide feedback under teacher supervision.
• Collaborate with mentor teachers and participate in planning meetings.
• Support extracurricular activities and maintain classroom order.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate with students' families as required.
