Job summary

The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) in Pennsylvania is seeking a Training & Consultation Specialist to design and deliver professional development for educators, support staff, and school leaders across Chester County and beyond.

TaC Specialists provide leadership to other specialists, develop curricula, and support programming to maximize student growth. Required: PDE Special Education certification and 5+ years teaching experience; IEP experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field required.
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to facilitate effective and engaging group trainings.
• Experience with IEP development based on reliable assessment data.
• Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience (special education preferred).
• PDE Special Education certification or certification in related field required.
• Psychologist or BCBA certification preferred.
• Experience supporting low incidence students, Autistic support.

Responsibilities

• Conducts training and professional development based on needs analyses at the request of schools and community organizations.
• Plans, develops, and delivers training and instructional programs across technical, operational, management, and other skills areas.
• Provides support in special education including IEP development, progress monitoring, instructional strategies, and social-emotional learning.
• Develops or oversees training curricula; evaluates and recommends vendor programs to meet training goals.
• Oversees development of teaching/visual aids, instructional materials, and computer tutorials.
• Coordinates and conducts professional development activities, team-building, school improvement recommendations, and wellbeing initiatives.
• Evaluates effectiveness of training programs and revises objectives accordingly.
• Provides guidance to employee and organizational development consultants and training professionals.
• Supports schools in building local capacity to work with students with academic/behavioral health needs.
• Assists in planning and documenting program implementation and organizational goals.
