The Educational Technology Manager oversees the Course Builder team while actively contributing to course content production. This position collaborates with other managers on course material development and manages deployment and delivery within the LMS , overseeing troubleshooting of content issues and delegating resolutions appropriately. The position works closely with functional team leads to ensure proper Course Builder support and oversees multimedia deployment across a variety of online courses. This position provides deployment, consultation, and training in technology use, including Blackboard and assistive technology, and leads support documentation for online courses developed by the Center. The manager supervises Course Builders across enterprise platforms including Blackboard, Kaltura, SharePoint, MS Teams, PlayPosit, and Articulate 360 to support faculty and students effectively.

This position requires regular on-campus presence and occasional schedule flexibility, including evenings and weekends based on student and operational needs. Staff operate in a fast-paced, collaborative environment supporting non-traditional learners through an evolving, data-informed model.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a university setting.
• Understanding and knowledge of the University’s technical systems including MySlice, Blackboard, Playposit and other enterprise systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and mentors a team of Course Builders.
• Identifies resource needs, addresses concerns and reports to the Associate Director. The Educational Technology Manager is responsible for consistency in the process as well as the quality of the courses and meeting all deadlines. Continually refines and evaluates content for efficiencies in the production process and provides feedback to the team; fosters an environment of diversity and inclusion.
• The manager will resource, train, and delegate the duties of a team of Course Builders.
• Strategizes and continuously improves practices together with other functional team leads at the Center.
• Researches and implements new processes that Course Builders will be responsible for performing and delegates tasks accordingly.
• Acts as a collaborative lead in the management of enterprise information systems as they relate to the Center, including Blackboard, SharePoint, Playposit, Articulate and others.
• Acts as first line of defense and primary technical troubleshooter for CODL course content contained within University’s enterprise systems.
• Provides oversight, advice, and assistance to the Center’s technical methods of course production, and implements new processes as required.
• Oversees the department ticketing system and delegates tasks for course-related issues as they arise.
• Reviews courses in LMS and content produced by the Course Builders.
• Supervises the update of content for existing courses in the LMS and provides guidance as needed.
• Collaborates with other functional team leads to create multimedia learning assets.
• Applies University design principles and accessibility strategies for online learning in order to ensure ADA compliance.
• Collaborates with staff members and faculty to create, review and approve technical documentation in support of online courses and programs.
• Performs the role of the lead liaison with Information and Technology Services and work to identify technical expectations and best practices around educational content.
• Participates in hiring and training of future staff.
• Works with the Quality Assurance team to ensure Course Builders are creating quality contents.
• Educates and assists the Quality Assurance team with technical process, tools, and course content.
• Trains and orients faculty to educational technologies; collaborates with faculty on technical needs for courses.
• Provides LMS (Blackboard) support for instructional designers, instructors and other course stakeholders.
• Researches, identifies, manages, and tracks assets accordingly
• Other duties as assigned.
