Job summary

Hawaiʻi State Department of Education is seeking Educational Assistants to provide paraprofessional support at the Kailua location. Positions range from Educational Assistant I to III, with duties including academic, social, and speech-related support for students under the guidance of licensed staff.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, and potential substitutions such as ParaPro/ParaPathways assessments or college credits.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent and one of the options listed.
• Successful completion of an approved ParaPro/ParaPathways assessment or 48 credits including math and English.
• An associate degree or higher from an accredited institution recognized by the Department.
• A bachelor degree may substitute for all General and Specialized Experience.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs academic, instruction-related support activities and tutors students as directed by the teacher.
• Provides social, vocational, and daily living instruction to students with disabilities to promote independence.
• Delivers counseling support activities and helps develop healthy self-concept in students.
• Gives articulation reinforcement lessons and supports speech therapy as guided by the speech pathologist.
