Job summary

The Hawaii State Department of Education is seeking Educational Assistants at Honolulu to provide paraprofessional support in multiple instructional settings. Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent with additional criteria defined by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
• Successful completion of ParaPro or ParaPathways Assessment, or 48 college credits with 3 in math and 3 in English.
• An associate degree or higher from an accredited institution recognized by the Department.
• Quality of experience guidelines define the required amount and type of prior work.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs various academic and instructional support activities and tutors students as directed by the teacher.
• Independently provides social, vocational and daily living instruction to students with disabilities.
• Independently conducts counseling support and helps develop rapport, promoting healthy self-concept.
• Independently offers articulation reinforcement and repetitive drills under the speech pathologist's guidance.
