Job summary

Greater Albany Public Schools is seeking a Sign Language Interpreter for Calapooia Middle School. The role supports deaf and hard of hearing students, providing simultaneous interpretation and sign-to-English voicing in classroom and school activities.

Requirements include two years of college (72 credits) or an Associate degree or higher, or passing the Highly Qualified exam. Reports to the Building Principal; 7 hours per day, 181 days per year. Salary level $27.32–$33.60 per hour.

Qualifications

• Two years of college (minimum 72 credits in academic coursework) or Associates Degree or higher, or pass the Highly Qualified exam.
• Experience in educational interpretation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform simultaneous interpretation of spoken language and sign language for deaf and hard of hearing students (K–21) within the classroom and during school activities.
• Provide re-teaching/tutoring and other academic support as directed.
• Provide academic assistance under the direction of the teacher of the deaf and/or classroom teacher.
