Job summary

Greater Albany Public Schools is seeking a Sign Language Interpreter at Calapooia Middle School to provide accessible education for deaf and hard of hearing students. Work includes classroom interpretation and support during school activities, following the 181-day, 9-month secondary calendar.

Minimum qualifications include 72 college credits or an associate degree or higher, or passing the Highly Qualified exam. The role reports to the building principal and is a full-time position.

Qualifications

• Two years of college (72 credits) or an Associate's degree or higher, or passer Highly Qualified exam.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret between spoken language and sign language in classroom settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform simultaneous interpretation of spoken language and sign language for deaf and hard of hearing students (K-21) in classrooms and school events.
• Provide re-teaching, tutoring and academic support as directed by teachers.
• VOICE the signed language into English as needed and assist with classroom activities.
