Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking an Educational Interpreter to facilitate communication between Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, their hearing peers, and staff in mainstream classrooms using American Sign Language and spoken English.

The ideal candidate will hold EIPA Level 3.5+ or RID/NAD certification, a Bachelor's degree in a related field, and at least two years of interpreting experience, with strong bilingual communication and professional collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• 2 years of interpreting experience required.
• License/certification: EIPA Level 3.5+ or RID/NAD certification required.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication among Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, hearing peers, teachers, and staff using ASL and spoken English.
• Serve as liaison between D/HH Program and mainstream programs.
• Interpret all mainstream classes for D/HH students.
• Interpret for extracurricular activities as requested by supervisor.
• Participate in IEP meetings as a member of the IEP team when requested.
• Support students' needs as determined by the IEP.
• Maintain current credentials and provide evidence to LEA as requested.
• Clarify the role of interpreter to all parties concerned.
• Maintain an impartial attitude and guard confidentiality per RID code of ethics.
• Participate in staff duties/responsibilities per school policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
