Job summary

Georgia Gwinnett College is seeking a Sign Language Interpreter to provide interpreting services for students who are deaf. This position involves interpreting during classes and college activities, and mentoring contracted interpreters. The right candidate will have a strong background in sign language, with a minimum of an associate degree and relevant certification.

This role is vital for ensuring access and support for deaf students, contributing to their academic and personal success within a vibrant educational community.

Qualifications

• 2 Year / Associate Degree from an accredited interpreter training program or nationally certified with two+ years of experience in a post-secondary arena.
• Three (3) or more years of directly related job experience.
• Possession of a national interpreter certification through RID or the National Association of the Deaf (NAD).

Responsibilities

• Provides 20+ hours of sign language interpreting per week appropriate to students' mode of communication.
• Assesses students’ communication mode and provides sign language appropriate for each student for best access.
• Schedules interpreters for semester assignments, special events and substitutes.
