Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree and endorsement in the grade/subject taught with a valid Tennessee certificate. Must be highly qualified.

Responsibilities

• Creates an educational environment conducive to learning; prepares instructional materials and provides evidence of preparation.
• Maintains classroom behavior; manages the classroom in and outside of the school.
• Assesses student progress on a timetable and provides progress reports; administers tests.
• Plans curriculum and prepares lessons to meet individual student needs within state and district requirements.
• Confers with parents and staff to develop educational programs for students.
• Creates learning materials geared to students' abilities and interests.
• Instructs students using strategies to develop language, cognition, social, and emotional skills.
• Motivates students and provides ongoing reinforcement and feedback.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and regulations.
• Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student activities.
• Sponsors student activities and tutors students as requested.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
