Job summary

Lexington County School District One is seeking an Educational Interpreter for Deaf and Hard of Hearing to provide sign language interpretation in classrooms and ensure equitable access to instruction for DHH students. The role supports students within the Special Services department and collaborates with teachers, staff and families.

Qualifications

• EIPA rating 3.5 (2026/27), 3.7 (2030/31), 4.0 (2033/34) or RID national certification.
• Documentation of EIPA WT completion.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates communication for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students by interpreting classroom instruction, peer discussions, and school activities.
• Interprets directions and assists in providing continuity of instruction as identified and directed by IEP.
• Participates in IEP meetings and ensures interpreting is provided by another interpreter when needed.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding student and employee information.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
