Job summary

Minnetonka Public Schools at Excelsior Elementary seeks an Educational Interpreter to facilitate communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in classrooms and other educational settings.

You will work with the Deaf/Hard of Hearing team, interpret during lessons and meetings, review media for accuracy, and support IEP-related activities. Minimum hourly wage is $32.00; position is benefit-eligible and open until filled.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of ASL, Spoken English, Signing Exact English (SEE), Pigeon Sign English (PSE), and Minimal Language Signing modes; child development.
• Interpreting training program affiliated with a state accredited educational institution.
• Certification prerequisites include RID, NAD Level 3, or EIPA 4.0.

Responsibilities

• Interpret spoken English into sign language in classrooms, lectures, labs and other educational settings.
• Prepare and preview media presentations (video, PowerPoint) for interpretation.
• Attend IEP meetings and other meetings requiring interpretation for deaf/hard of hearing students.
• Collaborate with Deaf/Hard of Hearing teachers to ensure appropriate accommodations.
• Maintain skills through staff development sessions and mentoring.
