Job summary

Caswell Developmental Center, serving as North Carolina's Eastern Region resource center, provides specialized residential, programmatic, and support services for individuals with developmental disabilities. The Educational Development Assistant (EDA) leads educational enrichment activities and supports staff and residents at the Education Enrichment Centers.

Qualifications

• Experience in education settings with extensive instructional knowledge and reinforcement strategies to encourage resident participation and progress.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges, with ability to build therapeutic relationships.
• Ability to instruct, support participation and effectively model techniques; follow regulations with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with residents and staff across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead educational enrichment activities for residents and staff at Education Enrichment Centers.
• Manage day-to-day instruction, activities, schedule adherence, and sanitation.
• Document participation and provide feedback to team to facilitate progress and independence.
• Transport residents to Education Enrichment Centers and model therapeutic relationship techniques.
