Job summary

Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (ASDB) seeks an ASL Interpreter/Educational Interpreter to provide classroom and school-wide interpreting services in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The role supports deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deaf-blind students, aligning interpretation with IEP objectives and classroom dynamics.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Previous experience working with children or adults in community or educational settings.
• Show minimum proficiency in interpreting skills via EIPA 3.5+ or RID/NAD/BEI certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services in educational settings for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deaf-blind students in accordance with IEPs.
• Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to support access to lesson content and incidental language situations.
• Participate as an IEP team member and communicate student communication needs to the educational team.
