Job summary

Ketchikan Indian Community seeks an Education & Training Director to provide strategic leadership for Education, SSEATEC, and Facilities/Workforce Development programs in Alaska. You will plan, direct, and evaluate operations, supervise staff, manage budgets and grants, and ensure regulatory compliance to support tribal education and workforce goals.

The role requires strong leadership and collaboration with tribal administration, partners, and funders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a certified K-12 teacher.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible supervisory/management experience.
• Educational program administration experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise department managers, supervisors, and staff.
• Establish program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate educational and workforce development programs.
• Manage budgets, grants, contracts, and financial resources.
• Proficient in grant writing and grant reporting.
• Ensure compliance with Tribal, Federal, State, BIA, Public Law, and CFR requirements.
• Hire, train, mentor, evaluate, and discipline staff as needed.
• Promote a positive, culturally responsive work environment.
• Build and maintain partnerships with funding agencies and educational institutions.
• Prepare reports, grant proposals, and program plans.
