Job summary

Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking a Transport Officer to support the Delivery Team within the Passenger Transport Team. The role focuses on ensuring safe, reliable transport for children and young people, procuring services, and maintaining contracts to high standards.

You will work with schools, operators, parents and colleagues to coordinate transport arrangements, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement while upholding safeguarding and council policies.

Qualifications

• Higher education level or equivalent qualification, with relevant experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Procure transport services in line with Council procurement procedures and contractual requirements.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with transport operators and key stakeholders.
• Coordinate transport arrangements to meet the needs of children and young people.
• Monitor service delivery to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and service standards.
• Negotiate and implement minor service amendments with operators when required.
• Investigate and resolve transport queries, issues, and service concerns in a timely manner.
• Support contract management activities, including performance monitoring and supplier engagement.
• Ensure transport services operate in accordance with safeguarding requirements, legislation, and Council policies.
• Maintain accurate records and transport management systems.
• Contribute to service reviews, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
