Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 32 college credits, an associate degree, or a Paraprofessional Praxis score of 460+.
• Demonstrated aptitude for the work and ability to work with staff, students, and the public.
• Willingness to receive and follow direction; previous experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Helps the teacher provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment.
• Prepares for classroom activities under supervision of the Supervising Teacher.
• Works with small groups or individuals to reinforce material as directed.
• Assists students in need of intervention or special attention.
• Performs clerical duties related to assignment.
• Guides independent assignments established by the teacher.
• Helps implement students' intervention and/or individual education plans.
• Assists in non-instructional and instructional classroom duties.
• Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and makeup work.
• Assists in supervising students as assigned by Supervising Teacher and Building Principal.
• Helps prepare class displays and bulletin boards.
• Constructs supplementary materials under teacher supervision.
• Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
• Willingness to work with students who may display aggressive behaviors and health plans support.
