Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections in Cross City is seeking an Education Supervisor I - SES to oversee the education department at Cross City Correctional Institution. This SES role directs Adult Education and Career/Technical Education programs and supervises education staff.

The position requires a master's degree, Florida professional educator certification, and a plan to gain administrative coverage areas within 36 months. It is not a telework role and reports to the local FDC office.

Qualifications

• Masters degree required from an accredited college/university.
• Two years of teaching experience required.
• Must possess Florida Professional Educator’s Certificate.
• Must be willing to add administrative coverage areas within 36 months.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage education staff, including hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining employees.
• Plan, organize, and direct Adult Education and Career and Technical Education programs at the institution.
• Counsel inmates on educational concerns and personal or family problems.
• Prepare and administer the education department budget with proper fund management.
• Ensure compliance with education standards, maintain buildings/equipment, and schedule staff training.
