Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking a lead high-level specialist in Education projects to guide teams and clients, advancing design quality. You will mentor staff, develop planning concepts, and translate them into construction documents while integrating sustainable design.

The role requires a minimum of a Bachelor's in a related field and 10 years of experience, with US licensure preferred and strong client-facing skills. Remote work options and a comprehensive benefits package accompany the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of related experience.
• Subject matter expert on Education projects (large/complex or multiple).
• US licensure/registration preferred.
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Knowledge of building codes and requirements.
• Advanced knowledge in discipline.
• Business acumen.
• Client-facing with strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to lead less experienced team members.
• Strong technical knowledge, coordination skills, and client rapport.

Responsibilities

• Actively seek to advance state of the art and develop innovative solutions as research needs evolve.
• Collaborate with project team to provide technical expertise in programming and planning for projects.
• Lead user group meetings to collect and refine program needs and assess space utilization.
• Communicate planning concepts to project teams and owners with reports and drawings.
• Translate planning concepts into terms for clients, designers, and team members.
• Lead development/modification/review of planning concepts and solutions.
• Lead development of drawings and specs translating planning concepts into construction docs.
• Develop project scope, plan, and services during contract process.
• Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design into projects.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients and potential clients.
• Provide guidance to other designers and project leaders.
• Other duties as assigned.
