Qualifications

• Illinois State Board of Education Paraprofessional or Substitute License.
• Ability to respond in the best interests of pupils in emergencies.
• Working knowledge of school functions and procedures.
• Working knowledge of classroom curriculum.
• Ability to exercise flexibility and good judgment to meet student needs.
• Ability to plan and organize work and projects independently.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to clearly communicate (oral and written) with pupils and co-workers.
• Ability to establish positive relationships with pupils, co-workers and the public.
• Ability to work collegially within a team.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate pupil participation in education and extracurricular programs.
• Administer or score non-confidential classroom exams and exercises.
• Implement curriculum adaptations and accommodations for students with various disabilities.
• Assist the teacher in all aspects of student and classroom preparation.
• Assist in supervision of field trips.
• Participate in building-based education team meetings.
• Contribute to weekly curriculum and adaptations for all students.
• Supervise lunch/recess as assigned.
• Paraprofessionals with substitute certification may serve as internal substitutes as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or administration.
