Job summary

Midcoast Maine Community Action is seeking an Education Manager for the Head Start program in Bath, ME. This part-time role (25 hours/week) involves updating the annual education plan, coordinating with staff and families, and overseeing curriculum implementation with an interdisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate has a BA in Early Childhood Education (MA preferred), 3+ years in a related role, and strong data analysis, grant, and supervision experience. Travel and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required; master’s preferred.
• At least three years in a related role; five years preferred.
• Experience with curriculum planning and teacher training.
• Experience supervising employees; administrative and grant-related experience preferred.
• Proficiency with computers and common software; data analysis for program improvement is required.

Responsibilities

• Update the annual education plan with Disabilities & Mental Health Manager, Policy Council, parents, and staff.
• Plan the educational program with an interdisciplinary team and oversee implementation.
• Represent MMCA’s Head Start program at community meetings and task forces.
• Review and evaluate programs with parents, Policy Council, and staff to ensure quality.
• Conduct classroom visits and provide on-site consultation to teaching staff.
• Partner with teaching staff to address behavioral or learning concerns and advise strategies.
• Gather and analyze information for school-readiness reports with the Mental Health & Disabilities Manager.
• Oversee the implementation and operation of the home-based curriculum.

Job Details: Job Location: Bath - Bath, ME, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $26.23 - $32.14Hourly, Education Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Update the annual education plan in partnership with the Disabilities & Mental Health Manager, Policy Council, parents, and center staff.
• Plan the educational program with an interdisciplinary team of staff, parents, and content-area specialists, and oversee implementation in accordance with applicable Performance Standards.
• Represent MMCA’s Head Start program at appropriate community meetings and task forces.
• Review and evaluate programs with parents, Policy Council members, and staff to strengthen quality and maintain compliance with Performance Standards and regulations.
• Conduct classroom visits, observe learning activities, and provide on-site consultation and technical assistance to Head Start teaching staff.
• Partner regularly with teaching staff to address behavioral or learning concerns and recommend supportive strategies that encourage positive behavior and learning.
• Gather, maintain, and analyze information used to develop school-readiness reports in collaboration with the Mental Health & Disabilities Manager.
• Oversee the implementation and operation of the home-based curriculum.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or an equivalent discipline required; master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
• At least three years of experience in a related role required; five years preferred.
• Experience with curriculum planning and teacher training.
• Experience supervising employees required.
• Administrative and grant-related experience preferred.
• Proficiency with computers and common software, including word-processing and spreadsheet applications, required. Experience with child-assessment databases preferred. Experience tracking and analyzing data to support continuous program improvement is also required.

Additional Requirements

• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance that meets state standards, and access to reliable transportation. Compliance with MMCA policies for safe vehicle operation is required.
• Before beginning employment, successfully complete fingerprint-based criminal background, child protective services, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record checks as required by state and federal childcare licensing regulations. Results must show no history of child abuse or exploitation and no disqualifying criminal or motor vehicle record that would prevent work with children.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a part-time position working 25 hours per week. Pay is based on experience and qualifications. The position includes 13 paid holidays plus two floating holidays.
