Job summary

Burke, Williams & Sorensen, LLP is seeking an Education Law Associate (Firmwide) with 4–8 years of experience to join our California practice. The ideal candidate will have education-law experience, strong writing and research skills, and the ability to manage matters independently while communicating effectively with clients.

CA bar admission is required. The associate will advise districts, draft pleadings, review policies and assist with education-related litigation and compliance matters.

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of education law experience, preferably with school districts or educational institutions.
• Strong writing, research, drafting and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage matters independently and communicate with clients.
• Admission to the State Bar of California.

Responsibilities

• Advise school districts and educational institutions on education law matters.
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda.
• Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, policies, contracts and letters.
• Assist with education-related litigation, proceedings and dispute resolution.
• Research student discipline, special education and school policies.
• Advise clients on education regulations and compliance requirements.
• Support attorneys on litigation, transactional and advisory matters.
• Communicate effectively with clients, administrators and colleagues.
