Job summary

Virginia Department of Education seeks a Director of Information Technology to guide technology systems and strategies in collaboration with senior leadership. You will oversee development, deployment, and support of IT practices and tools to advance DOE priorities.

The role requires strong program management, capacity to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences, and a proven track record in educational technology and data analytics.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge in designing educational technology systems and implementation.
• Strong program and project management skills with technology insight.
• Ability to procure, set up, organize, track and manage tech assets.
• Leadership and problem solving to deliver successful programs and outcomes.
• Strategic planning to ensure systems support objectives within budget.
• Ability to articulate technical concepts to varied audiences; strong SDLC skills.
• Experience with educational data and data analytics evidence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support technology systems, approaches, and functions for the VDOE.
• Define testing approaches including regression testing, UAT, and automated testing.
• Keep data models/ERDs, data dictionaries, and metadata repositories up-to-date.
• Define the future technology vision and a practical path to achieve it.
