Job summary

Pueblo of San Felipe Education Department is seeking an Education Intern to support after-school, weekend, and summer programs for local students and community members.

You will assist with meal coordination, library activities, and supervision of activities, helping staff plan events and ensure participant engagement. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience in youth programming within a tribal education setting.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED preferred; 11th/12th grade may be considered.
• Ability to work with students in a kind, supportive manner.
• Physical capability to sit/stand for long periods, lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, professional assistance to visitors, vendors, and others in person, by phone, and email.
• Help plan, coordinate, and supervise activities to engage students in programming.
• Help advertise events to maximize participation.
• Assist students during rotations to maintain engagement and participation.
• Assist with Breakfast and Lunch distribution to students in the community.
• Assist with Library needs when available.
• Support Education Director and staff as needed.
• Submit timesheets to ensure pay for hours worked.

Job Summary

Under the Department of Education (DOE), the Education Intern is responsible for the working with all Education Department staff to help work with students and community members during after school, weekend and summer programs – including the Literacy Program, visits from the Fitness Summer Program students, meal coordination and other activities developed to involve students over the summer, after school hours or on the weekend.

Essential Duties

• Provides friendly and professional assistance to all visitors, vendors, and others in person, by phone, and email.
• Help plan, coordinate, and supervise activities and events to engage students in Activity Programming.
• Helps advertise events and activities to ensure maximum participation in events and activities.
• Assists with students during rotations to ensure students stay engaged and participate.
• Assists in Breakfast and Lunch distribution to students throughout the community.
• Assists with Library needs when available.
• Assists with activities for students and adults when they visit the library.
• Assists as needed with Education Director and all other Education Department staff
• Submits timesheets ensure pay for hours worked.

Qualifications

• Education: HS Diploma or high school equivalency certificate preferred. 11th or 12th grade High School students may be considered.
• Experience/Basic Knowledge: Ability to work with students and others in a kind manner.
• Physical Requirements: Must have manual dexterity to enter and retrieve data from a computer. Ability to sit and stand for long periods. Bends and stoops regularly. Ability to lift and move boxes up to 25 lbs.
• Preferences: San Felipe Preference and Veteran's Preference.
