Job summary

Pueblo of San Felipe is seeking a Tutor & Homework Helper to assist students at the library with homework and to implement literacy and math programs. The role supports after-school, weekend, and summer activities designed to engage students and the community with educational programming.

The position involves working with Education Department staff, supporting students and adults during library visits, and ensuring accurate timesheet submissions for hours worked.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or high school equivalency preferred.
• Ability to work with students and others in a kind manner.
• Physical requirements: sit and stand for long periods; lift up to 25 lbs.
• San Felipe and Veteran’s Preference preferences.

Job Summary:

Under the Department of Education (DOE), the Tutor & Homework Helper is responsible for working with all students who visit the library for academic help. This position will help students with their homework, as well as implement the Literacy and math programs to help students improve their academic skills. They will also assist Education Department staff to help work with students and community members during after-school, weekend and summer program activities developed to involve students over the summer, after school hours or on the weekend.

Essential Duties:

• Assist all students with homework
• Implement reading and math program for additional learning based on student level
• Provides friendly and professional assistance to all students
• Help plan, coordinate, and supervise activities and events to engage students in Activity Programming.
• Assists with students during rotations to ensure students stay engaged and participate.
• Assists with Library needs when available.
• Assists with activities for students and adults when they visit the library.
• Assists as needed with Education Director and all other Education Department staff
• Submits timesheets ensure pay for hours worked.

Qualifications:

• Education: HS Diploma or high school equivalency certificate preferred.
• Experience/Basic Knowledge: Ability to work with students and others in a kind manner.
• Physical Requirements: Must have manual dexterity to enter and retrieve data from a computer. Ability to sit and stand for long periods. Bends and stoops regularly. Ability to lift and move boxes up to 25 lbs.
• Preferences: San Felipe Preference and Veteran’s Preference.
