Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties at K-12 or higher education campuses. Responsibilities include cleaning classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas, using cleaners and equipment safely, and disposing of waste properly.

No diploma is required and on-the-job training is provided; 18+ eligibility is needed. Prior customer service experience is a plus, with one year of similar work recommended.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required; on-the-job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Prior customer service experience preferred.
• One year of prior similar work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, which may include classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check trash receptacles, emptying as needed, in all designated areas.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager concerning the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients and coworkers.
• Move furniture and equipment to clean areas as needed.
• Clean interior glass, windows, and mirrors with cleaners and squeegees.
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and communal areas.
• Comply with safety, security, and quality standards set by the Company and authorities.
