Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate statewide leadership-development programs for aspiring, novice, and experienced school leaders.
• Develop practical resources, presentations, training materials, and guidance for school and school system leaders.
• Facilitate professional learning, meetings, focus groups, and stakeholder sessions in both virtual and in-person settings.
• Work closely with school systems, agency teams, professional-learning partners, and other stakeholders to identify needs and strengthen leadership supports.
• Manage multiple projects at the same time by maintaining timelines, organizing logistics, monitoring deliverables, and communicating progress.
• Review program, workforce, survey, and stakeholder-feedback data to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.
• Coordinate contracts, vendors, grants, budgets, and purchasing activities associated with leadership-development initiatives.
• Create clear communications, reports, talking points, and program updates for agency leadership, school systems, policymakers, and external partners.
• Research effective leadership-development, recruitment, retention, strategic staffing, and scheduling practices to inform statewide programs and resources.
• Monitor implementation across participating schools and systems, provide follow-up support, and help expand successful practices statewide.

Job Focus Area

Within the Division of Educator Talent and Workforce Development, one of our key priorities is to strengthen and support the school leader pipeline by creating meaningful opportunities for educators to learn, collaborate, develop their leadership capacity, and grow professionally.

We are seeking an Education Consultant 4 to serve as the statewide expert in school leadership. This role will lead efforts to expand and strengthen opportunities for current and aspiring school leaders across Louisiana, with a focus on developing leadership practices that support effective schools and improved outcomes for students.

The Education Consultant 4 will work collaboratively with educators, school leaders, system leaders, and internal and external partners to design, implement, and continuously improve leadership development initiatives. The position will help build a strong, connected, and sustainable leadership pipeline by providing high-quality professional learning, fostering collaboration and networking, and supporting innovative approaches to school leadership.

Through this work, the Education Consultant 4 will help ensure that Louisiana’s current and future school leaders have the knowledge, skills, resources, and professional networks needed to lead effectively and make a lasting impact on students, educators, and school communities.

Position-Specific Details

Appointment Type

Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.

The Education Consultant 4 position has a special entrance rate (SER) of $31.25 hourly,$2,500 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
