Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an Applied AI Architect for Education to be the senior technical owner for a portfolio of education customers. You will shape AI strategy and guide institutions from discovery through deployment, adoption, and measurable impact.

You will own the technical account plan for ChatGPT Edu, the OpenAI API, Codex, and related solutions, collaborating with account leadership to translate priorities into adoption roadmaps and durable value across teaching, research, and operations.

Qualifications

Significant experience in customer-facing technical roles such as solutions architecture, solutions engineering, technical account leadership, AI deployment, or technical customer success.
Guided complex organizations from technical evaluation through production adoption and measurable value realization.
Build credibility with senior technical and business leaders while communicating with hands-on engineers.
Strong software and cloud architecture foundations, including APIs, distributed systems, data integration, identity, security, and privacy.
Knowledge of modern AI systems, frontier LLM models, agentic applications, model evaluation, retrieval, or enterprise AI workflows.
Ability to prototype, explain technical tradeoffs, and work with APIs, SDKs, and languages like Python or JavaScript.
Experience developing technical account plans, prioritizing complex customer portfolios, and linking adoption to outcomes.

Responsibilities

Serve as a principal technical advisor and long-term relationship owner for education customers and pre-sales prospects.
Own the technical account plan, milestones, adoption priorities, and value realization path.
Lead discovery with academic and administrative leaders to identify use cases tied to institutional objectives.
Translate priorities into applied AI architectures spanning models, data, security, governance, and deployment.
Guide institutions through evaluations, workshops, proofs of value, and a path to production.
Develop adoption roadmaps with clear workstreams, milestones, governance, and ownership.
Build reusable architectures for teaching, research, and operations across institutions.
Qualify and coordinate with Deployment Engineering, training, Product, and Partners to ensure successful delivery.
Track adoption, production readiness, and measurable impact, intervening when risks threaten value.
Translate field insights into product and engineering feedback to meet education customer needs.
