Job summary

Penguin Random House, a leading publisher of adult and children’s books, seeks an entry-level Editorial Assistant to support a team of 7 editors working on board books, storybooks, and licensed properties from Disney, Nickelodeon, Netflix, and others. This remote-friendly role requires meeting tight deadlines and strong organizational skills.

You will help with manuscript development, licensor approvals, P&Ls, web copy, and title information sheets, while contributing fresh ideas for new books

Qualifications

• BA in English
• Interest in licensed book publishing
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
• Excellent organizational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and follow-up skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat

Responsibilities

• Scheduling meetings
• Maintaining publishing lists
• Writing title information sheets and web copy
• Creating and tracking P&Ls (Profit and Loss documents)
• Obtaining licensor approvals
• Ordering author and licensor book copies
• Brainstorming new book and series ideas with editors and licensors
• Assisting editorial team with manuscript and book development
• Creating presentation decks for Licensors and Sales Conferences
• Presenting individual titles and book series at Sales Conferences
• Handling sensitive embargoed materials
