Job summary

Safari Club International operates in the San Antonio office and seeks an Associate Editor to originate, edit, organize and manage content for the Safari Times and Safari Magazine. You will work with writers, editors, designers and printers to produce high-quality publications and meet tight deadlines.

The role requires travel to the annual SCI Convention and related events, with a strong commitment to hunting advocacy and wildlife conservation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience writing and editing in the outdoor industry or related publications.
Knowledge of firearms and hunting terminology.
Experience in nonprofit sector preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and related SCI software.

Responsibilities

Edit and curate content for Safari Times, Safari Magazine, and SCI Publications.
Curate articles from members and external sources and enforce deadlines.
Copy edit and line edit for clarity and consistency to SCI standards.
Proofread before publication and manage digital assets for storytelling.
Coordinate print and mailing logistics with vendors and printers.
Respond to member inquiries about publications and submissions.
Attend meetings, conventions, and trade shows as appropriate.
