Springer Nature US is seeking an Associate/Senior Editor for BMC Surgery and BMC Urology. The role is hybrid in New York or Philadelphia, focusing on editorial development, board relations, and content strategy across journals.

You will manage manuscript handling, ensure scientific rigor, and collaborate with internal teams to drive content and policy, while supporting editorial board members and reviewers.

Qualifications

• PhD or MD in surgery, urology, or a related field.
• Extensive editorial experience in scientific publishing.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop journal development strategy for BMC Surgery and BMC Urology.
• Collaborate with Journals Group to support publishing initiatives.
• Identify and develop reviews, collections and supplements.
• Oversee editorial handling of manuscripts with rigorous evaluation.
• Guide Editorial Board Members while upholding high standards.
• Resolve publishing and integrity issues with resilience.
• Partner with internal teams to ensure author satisfaction.
• Lead Editorial Board meetings and strategy discussions.
• Support recruitment and onboarding of Editorial Board Members.
• Contribute to editorial policy development.
