Job summary

Metrea is hiring a software engineer to build the systems behind our edge sensing and secure-communications products. You'll write production code, design services and data pipelines, and run on constrained Linux devices in the field.

This builder’s role spans from rough requirements to shipped, tested, deployable code. You’ll work at the intersection of software, networking, and wireless, collaborating with hardware and firmware teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Rust, Python, and Bash.
• Experience building backend, systems, or distributed software.
• Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, sockets).
• Real fluency in Linux—services, processes, debugging, performance tuning.
• Ability to work independently with loosely defined requirements.

Responsibilities

• Write production Rust for real-time data ingestion, processing, and device control.
• Design and build modular services and APIs that span edge devices and backend infrastructure.
• Build data pipelines that feed analysis and automation.
• Integrate software with network stacks, wireless tooling, and external data sources.
• Implement automation frameworks—rule-based workflows, triggers, and orchestration.
• Deploy and tune software on resource-constrained Linux systems, and debug system-level issues.
• Prototype quickly and iterate as requirements evolve.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and field teams to make the whole system work as one.
