Job summary

Sage is building an edge platform for care‑focused edge devices and cloud systems that work together reliably, even with flaky connections. The role emphasizes defining the architecture for edge computing, owning challenging problems like fall detection and resident tracking, and mentoring engineers as part of a collaborative team.

You’ll work across edge hardware, networking, and cloud components, shipping robust solutions and shaping engineering practices in a fast‑moving environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in complex backend systems building and evolving scalable software.
• Strong Linux/Unix experience, debugging and optimizing in production.
• Deep systems programming fundamentals in one or more languages.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and edge-cloud architectures.

Responsibilities

• Shape architecture for edge devices and cloud orchestration.
• Tackle ambiguous problems like device failure modes and sensor fusion.
• Build diagnostic tooling for remote hardware visibility.
• Troubleshoot field issues involving network, hardware and software.
• Collaborate with teams to ship end-to-end solutions.
• Review code and mentor junior engineers via teaching and guidance.
• Advocate for better architectural approaches when needed.
