Job summary

Amazon's Device Tech team seeks a Systems Development Engineer to build platforms and automation for on-premise compute and storage across operations worldwide. You will work with senior engineers to design self‑service tools, automation workflows, and monitoring that abstract infrastructure complexity for dozens of application teams across thousands of sites globally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of technical work experience.
• 2+ years of programming with at least one modern language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby).
• 2+ years of Linux systems administration and/or development experience.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals.
• 2+ years of experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain self‑service systems that enable application teams to manage on‑premise compute and storage infrastructure without manual intervention.
• Design and implement automation for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and lifecycle workflows.
• Develop monitoring and observability solutions to track system health across distributed on‑premise environments.
• Write Infrastructure‑as‑Code (AWS CDK) to deploy and manage cloud and hybrid infrastructure at scale.
• Provide technical assistance to application teams onboarding to on‑premise compute and storage platforms, troubleshooting interconnection and configuration issues.
• Partner with senior engineers on architecture decisions, participating in design reviews and contributing to technical documentation.
• Improve operational excellence by automating repetitive tasks, building runbooks, and reducing manual toil for the team.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, learning to diagnose and resolve issues across networking, compute, and storage layers.
