Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to lead automation software for its storage infrastructure and to develop Linux device drivers for ARM and x86 architectures. You will work across multiple teams to build scalable, reliable systems powering AWS storage platforms.

The role emphasizes durability, security, and diagnostics, with responsibilities spanning design, debugging, and collaboration with distributed storage teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 1+ year of designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
• 3+ years of hands‑on systems engineering experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems.
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of automation software across teams.
• Design and build scalable system‑level software focused on durability, availability, security, and diagnostics.
• Develop and maintain device drivers for Linux on ARM and x86 architectures.
• Debug and resolve Linux boot and runtime issues across different processor architectures.
• Build automation solutions using modern programming languages (Python, Ruby, Java, etc.).
• Work with OS internals and storage subsystems in Linux‑based environments.
• Collaborate with teams working on distributed storage systems and storage hardware.
• Triage and troubleshoot complex system‑level issues in production environments.
• Help design servers to improve robustness.
